Musée Carnavalet 3 -  Paris in the 19th Century: From Napoleon to the Commune

With Chris Boïcos

This very rich section documents Paris of the Napoleonic and Romantic periods, the two Paris Revolutions that shook France and Europe in the 19th century – 1830 and 1848 – the return to power of the Bonapartes under Napoleon III, the expansion and modernization of Paris under Baron Haussmann and the dramatic ending of the Second Empire with the Prussian siege of Paris and the civil war of the Commune in 1871.
